IT’S NOT REALLY ABOUT THE NUMBERS.
Yes, we’re pursuing a bold goal:
5,000 new disciples in 10 years (2025-2034).

But this initiative isn’t ultimately about hitting a number.

It’s about lives being changed—one person at a time. It’s about people encountering Jesus, surrendering their lives to Him, and stepping into a new way of living. And it’s about what happens next: those same people helping others do the same.
The ripple effect of that kind of movement will extend far beyond a single decade.

The real win is a generation of believers who stop sitting on the sidelines and start making disciples.

A MOVEMENT OF EVERYDAY DISCIPLE-MAKERS
This is not about creating another program.

It’s about a shift.

A shift from passivity to participation.
From simply attending to actively following.
From keeping faith private to living it out daily.

Across Tennessee, believers are waking up to the reality that Jesus’ final command was meant for them—not just church leaders, not just a few, but all of us.

They’re stepping into conversations.
Opening Scripture with friends.
Praying with intention.
Walking alongside others toward Jesus.

And that kind of movement changes everything.

HOW IT STARTED
The 5-in-10 Initiative began in 2025 at North Boulevard Church of Christ in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

What started as a local effort—to mobilize one church to make more disciples—quickly grew into something bigger.

By 2026, other churches across Tennessee began adopting the same vision and approach within their own congregations. What emerged was a growing coalition—churches working together toward a shared goal.

Different churches. One mission.
To make disciples who make disciples across the state of Tennessee.
WHAT DRIVES US
JESUS’ FINAL COMMAND IS OUR TOP PRIORITY.
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
— Matthew 28:19–20
This isn’t a suggestion. It’s our mission.
And it’s still just as relevant today as it was when Jesus first spoke it.
Throughout His ministry on Earth, Jesus exemplified many disciple-making habits. We have identified seven, which serve as the core of the 5-in-10 initiative.

These principles are not tasks to be completed, but daily rhythms that shape how we live and make disciples for Christ:
We pursue the heart of God, aligning our lives with His love and purpose.
We depend on prayer, trusting God for guidance, power, and transformation.
We serve others with purpose, living out our faith through action.
We seek out people of peace, building relationships with those open to God.
We help people discover God through His Word, not just our opinions.
We gather in authentic community, growing together as followers of Jesus.
We multiply disciples, equipping others to follow Jesus and do the same.
SIMPLE. BIBLICAL.
REPRODUCABLE.
We believe disciple-making should be simple enough for anyone to do, and powerful enough to multiply.

That’s why our approach focuses on:
-
Simple Bible studies that help people encounter truth directly from Scripture
-
Everyday relationships, not staged environments
-
Immediate multiplication, where new believers are equipped to share with others right away

You don’t need a pulpit.

You don’t need a title.

You don’t need years of training.

You just need a willingness to follow Jesus—and help someone else do the same.

NOT IN TENNESSEE?
While our goal is focused on Tennessee, the mission is not limited by geography.

If you’re outside the state, you’re still invited to use these tools, follow this model, and join in the work of making disciples wherever you are. The harvest is everywhere!
